In the beginning, ITG INTERNATIONAL was Interpersonal Technology Group...

Founded in 1981

Interpersonal Technology Group, Inc. was founded in 1981 by Dr. Richard DeFiore. The key focus and specialty of ITG as he originally conceived it was to fill a unique niche within the interpersonal skills training arena-he designed, developed and delivered soft skills workshops specifically for IT professionals, managers and leaders (actually, back then it was Data Processing, later information services, until Information Technology came into vogue).

Eventually bringing on board a staff of facilitators and design professionals, all with extensive IT, management and training credentials, the company grew exponentially.

It was clear that workshop participants with IT/technical backgrounds appreciated:

• instuctors who spoke their jargon,
  
• understood their unique challenges
• content that included real world, IT specific exercises, case studies and simulations

In other words, there was a special camaraderie among participants, comfort level with the IT specific content of the classes-and credibility associated with the facilitators.

Increasingly over time, ITG was asked by customers to provide training for other departments within their organizations...eventually, both business lines had expanded dramatically to the point that it was decided that it would make sense to market each division separately from a sales, marketing and services standpoint.
